Gentleness

This is one of the two shots that I like out of the nearly 100 shots I took today. This photo is appropriately labeled gentleness because it is gentle to look at in my eyes. I enjoyed listening to the water rushing down stream and listening to the birds who were in full singing mode. I saw chipmunks, squirrels, robins and woodpeckers as they were enjoying the morning just as much as I was.

Rock Creek Park Spring 2010

This shot was taken early this morning about the time of sunrise. I really am fond of this island or possibly fascinated by it as it sits basically smack dab in the middle of the creek. The creek makes its way around both sides of this little island and past me. I really love this shot in that it is a really special place to be.

Summer 2010, I am ready!

It's nearly that time of year! The time of year when the foliage is pure green and wildlife is abundant. I'm really ready to exercise my skills and try out new ones but most of all, just to get out there! This is the year I upgrade my game in photography and be more picky about my shots. This is the final year with my current camera and when the new one arrives, Then I'll be ready to enter the world of the professional. My new motto:

  • Positive thoughts!
  • Positive attitude!
Can ONLY equal...Positive results!

Winter 2009/2010 a new beginning!

A new beginning! a time to turn a new page in the book of life, as well as nature to turn a page in it's book. This was after the first snow storm in Dec 2009, it was VERY cold and my feet were wet from the snow. This shoot was worth EVERY shot! I had alot of fun as the parks roads were completely closed off, the entire park was closed to vehicles! The main road was plowed fortunately but not one single solitary car on the road which, let me walk down the middle of the road without worry and gave me free and ample opportunity to shoot and select my next position without the fear of getting run over.

Fall Foliage 2009

Rock Creek Park, Fall 2009

I enjoyed the colors and deep hues of the foliage within the park but, I was also quite sad knowing that winter was just around the corner. Seasons can be alot like peoples moods, happy, joy, sorrow. But Sorrow in the sense of winter, I have come to appreciate that winter is just a time of renewal, in preparation for spring, the beauty of a new year.

Here is a photo that is a favorite of my wife. She has fond feelings for this photo and it really moves her emotionally. So I thought I'd share this photo because this is her choice of a wonderful photo. To honor her.

Do you use Facebook? if so, feel free to add me as a friend by searching me out under username; christopher.jackson1 and flip through my photos and to keep up on my work

The Washington Monument, blossoms and people

This is one of a few shots I took during this years National Cherry Blossom Festival. This years festival was quite dramatic in that the heavy winter snows we had, along with the rains caused the peak bloom forecast to shift several times before the festival began. This years peak bloom shifted from the original forecast of APR 3-8 to APR 1-4. This years blossoms were stunning and all blossoms opened in a timely manner. There was a combination of pink and white blossoms that lined the edge of the tidal basin. The weather? Gorgeous, simply perfect! The temperatures were in the 80's and the final weekend(that blossoms were there) saw temperatures in the 90's!

2010 Cherry Blossom Festival

My work with the 2010 National Cherry Blossom Festival is done. I have collected some 530 pictures and have selected what I feel are the best of them all. The picture above is of a photo I took during my second day of shooting. It was posted on the NBC4 DC website (see the link below) during the closing day of this years festival. Stay tuned for next years photos
